this work is a visual and semiotic study of the SADF RATEL IFV. the infantry vehicle was designed in 1972 to specifically fight in and withstand the conditions of Angolan soil during South African invasion. Ratel Over The Hill looks at the violent act of stamping oneself onto the Land of other in order to maintain hegemony over territory claimed as one’s. it delves into the history of Land dynamics between Angola and South Africa, tracing it back in modern History to relations between the Apartheid and Portuguese Colonial Regimes.
